Embracing the Flow
We often experience flow in our business or in the way we work.
You probably have experienced those moments when you are working and you are really in the flow. Things are going great. One of the worst things you can do at that point in time is to disrupt that flow and do other stuff, having a meeting or whatever.
I am a big believer in catching the wave, so when you are in the flow you need to embrace it because you never know when that momentum is going to be gone. We, all people, are not consistent in the way we perform. Sometimes we are really productive and sometimes we are not. It is just the way we live and the way life is.
The best thing you can do when you are experiencing a flow is to embrace it and not get in your own way by doing other things.
I remember last year, I was having actually having an off day because I had a short night of sleep the night before. I had to record an online course and for some reason, I really got into the flow and recorded either 68 or 86 videos – I can’t remember – in one day. Normally that could take a week, but I was really crushing. High quality videos, bam, bam, bam. No worries. I didn’t go to lunch. I didn’t go home for dinner at six o’clock, which I normally do. I worked late with my videographer, and it wasn’t comfortable with him in some situations, but I was in the flow and I went with it.
It is the same with writing, producing, whatever. Please, please when you feel it, grab it and hold on to it because you never know when you are going to get it back again. That moment, when you are experiencing it, when you are “in it”, you won’t ever have that moment again, so embrace it with everything you have.
